Lindi von Mutius

As Chief of Staff, Lindi works on day-to-day project management with the Executive Team and is an active voice for staff on organizational changes and strategic decisions. Serving as part of the Sierra Club’s Executive Team, she’s providing insights on the full range of our work, and identifying opportunities to develop and strengthen our reach and effectiveness.

Prior to joining the Sierra Club, Lindi was the Director of Program Management at the Environmental Defense Fund. Lindi led diversity, equity and inclusion efforts and external relationship management initiatives at EDF, as well as created and managed a mentoring program.

Before EDF, Lindi worked as in-house counsel and Director of Government Affairs for the German Federal Ministry of Economics and Energy’s Washington DC and Philadelphia liaison offices. In that role, she lobbied for renewable energy tax credits, a more effective Toxic Substances Control Act, as well as harmonizing regulations around agriculture, trade, and the “Internet of Things.” Her previous experience as a corporate litigator gives her insight into organizational management and working with complex teams, and complicated stakeholders.

Lindi is originally from Essen, Germany, but calls New England her “U.S. home.” She is a graduate of Williams College, Harvard University, and Vermont Law School. In her spare time, Lindi enjoys kayaking, hiking, dancing, volunteering, and long walks with her dog, Toby. Lindi also serves on the Board of Directors of Out for Sustainability, which mobilizes the LGBTQ community for environmental and social action.
