Erika is a Principal at The Raben Group. She is energized by helping clients build effective strategies. One of her hallmarks is her thorough approach to understanding a client’s history, mission, and positioning within a sector, coalition or even among adversaries, creating a foundation for sound strategy making and meaningful outcomes. She listens carefully and then contributes a perspective shaped by her work in policy, political and advocacy spaces.
Previously, Erika has served as a legislative assistant to U.S. Representative John Conyers, Jr. (MI), and as an organizer and fundraiser for state and federal candidates across the country. Most recently she worked on the front lines of the reproductive rights movement as the Political Director for NARAL Pro-Choice America, developing federal PAC strategies and electoral and ballot initiative campaigns.
Whether working behind the scenes or in public advocacy campaigns, Erika skillfully marries relevant facts and values-based messages. At NARAL, she guided the research and development of new messages, both to demonstrate the truth of broad support for reproductive freedom among the voting public, and to hold accountable elected officials who fail to support these freedoms. These messages were effective in election campaigns, and continue to be at the core of NARAL’s success in mobilizing supporters nationwide.
A native of Detroit, Erika is a graduate of Howard University, B.A., English, and George Washington University, M.A., Political Management.
