In 1995 in partnership with the Kansas State University Hazardous Substance Research Center, Dr. Wildcat formed the Haskell Environmental Research Studies (HERS) Center. In 2006 with support from the NSF and the Kansas University Center for the the Remote Sensing of Ice Sheets Dr. Wildcat formed the American Indian & Alaska Native Climate Change Working Group, now known as the Indigenous Peoples Climate Change Working Group. In addition to leading a number of green campus initiatives at Haskell Indian Nations, Dr. Wildcat continues to teach and publish on climate change and broader environmental issues. A new second edition of his book Power and Place: Indian Education in America (w/ Vine Deloria, Jr.) will be released this fall and his new book, Exercises of Indigenuity in an Age Global Crises will be released in Spring 2016.
